Only thirty years ago the first winner of the Roux Scholarship, Andrew Fairlie, wrote a couple of French chefs for a job application. Only one of them replied and said: Non merci. The reason being the image. British chefs weren’t considered capable of true gastronomy.
Now in its 34th year, the Scholarship offers the winner a career changing opportunity: a three month stage at a three star Michelin restaurant anywhere in the world. In addition to many other fabulous prizes.
