The Cannes Film Festival held its closing night ceremony and final screening on Saturday night. In what was one of the wildest, and most ground-breaking awards ceremonies of recent memory at the Cannes Film Festival French filmmaker Julia Ducournau became the second-ever female director to win the Palme d’Or, with her audacious Titane. The last time a woman scooped the top prize was in 1993 when Jane Campion shared honors in a tie between her The Piano and Chen Kaige’s Farewell My Concubine. It’s been an exceptional Festival. It was supposed to be, and it’s certainly lived up to its promise. For 12 days, the 74th Festival de Cannes has celebrated our reunion with the cinema as a great international event full of discoveries, encounters and sharing.

Festival de Cannes Un Certain Regard Prizes 2021
Refocused on the discovery of emerging filmmakers, the 2021 Un Certain Regard has offered twenty features in its competition. Six of them were first films that compete as well for the Camera d’or. The opening film was Arthur Harari’s Onoda – 10 000 Nights in the Jungle. Lead by the director and screenwriter Andrea Arnold, the Jury was made up of the director and screenwriter Mounia Meddour, the actress Elsa Zylberstein, the director and screenwriter Daniel Burman and Michael Covino, director and actor. Four voices and four languages marked the start of the 74th Festival de Cannes!
The 74th Cannes Film Festival kicked off in earnest Tuesday evening as big names came out to support the event that’s just getting back to business after last year’s cancellation and this year’s delays. Assembled together, 2019 Oscar and Palme d’Or winner Bong Joon-ho Cannes veteran Pedro Almodóvar, jury president Spike Lee and the night’s honorary Palme d’Or recipient Jodie Foster paid tribute to the event and officially opened the 2021 proceedings in a mix of Korean, Spanish, English and French.The emotion was palpable in the Grand Théâtre Lumière for the return of the Festival to Cannes after its cancellation last year due to the global pandemic.
